1. ABOUT
Idukki district is a densely forested, mountainous region in the south Indian state of Kerala. In the north, Anamudi mountain towers over Eravikulam National Park, where the rare, blue Neelakurinji flower blooms every 12 years. Nearby, Munnar is a hill station known for its sprawling tea plantations and Tea Museum. Farther south is the vast, curved Idukki Dam and Periyar National Park, a tiger and elephant reserve.
2. LOCATION
Idukki is a district in the Indian state of Kerala.It was constituted on 26 January 1972, by splitting the district of Kottayam into two parts.Its division was previously headquartered at Kottayam city, but moved to Kuyilimala near Painavu and Cheruthoni in June 1976. Idukki district lies amid the Cardamom Hills of Western Ghats in Kerala.

7. POPULATION
According to the 2018 Statistics Report, Idukki district has a population of 1,093,156.The 2011 Census places it at 416th among the 640 districts of India. The district has a population density of 251 inhabitants per square kilometre (650/sq mi). Its population growth rate over the decade 2001–2011 was −1.93% due to emigration and low fertility rates. Idukki has a sex ratio of 1,006 females for every 1,000 males,and a literacy rate of 92.2 percent.
Most of the people in Idukki district speaks Malayalam. But Devikulam and Peerumedu taluks have significant Tamil population albeit lesser than Malayalees.
8.ATTRACTION
MUNNAR:
Munnar is the most beautiful hill station in idukki district, which has largest tea plantations in the world. Munnar cannot be portrayed in a single canvas. Everything and anything here will make us excited. The hills, the mist, the valleys, the streams, the waterfalls, tea plantations, rare flora and fauna.
KASARAGOD:
Kasaragod is often named as land of Lords and Forts and one of the most beautiful districts in Kerala with number of tourist attractions including biggest Bekal Fort,Ananthapura Lake Temple, Ranipuram Hill Station,Kottancheri Hills and Valiyaparamba Backwaters.
9. LOCAL TRANSPORTATION
KSRTC bus services are available from here. The major bus stations in Idukki are Kumily, Moolamattom and Thodupuzha bus stations. There is no railway line through Idukki and the nearest railway station to Idukki is Kuruppanthra Railway station at a distance of 52 kms.
10. VISIT TIME
Winter (October to February): Winter is undoubtedly the best time to visit Idukki! During this season, the entire of the hill station gets covered with the magical mist and showcases an irresistible charm.
